More than forty shrimp fishers are contracted by Heyko to catch the North Sea shrimp, which they cook immediately on board before transporting them to the inland fish auctions at Lauwersoog, Harlingen and Den Oever, and in Germany and Denmark. Heyko has brokers at the auctions that buy the consignments of shrimps and transport them immediately to the production facilities in Enkhuizen. The unpeeled shrimps are often frozen in Enkhuizen before being transported to peeling plant in Morocco, although fresh unpeeled shrimps can also be prepared for being transported abroad.
