International reputation
A large part of Heyko's background can be traced back to the Santa Group, which has the international brand name Santa Bremor. The information about the Heyko founders under Background describes the rapid growth of the Santa Group, but some events are worthy of separate mention.
The President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, has visited Santa on two occasions. During his visit, he praised the way the company promotes Belarus internationally with the Santa Bremor range, and how it has provided so much employment by creating 5000 jobs. As a gesture of his appreciation, the President presented Santa with a gift of the Belarusian flag – an exceptional and unique honour, given the fact that only state companies and institutions are normally allowed to hoist the Belarusian national flag. It now flies above the Santa head office in Brest.
There was also something special in store for Alexander Moshensky, son of Mikhail, the late co-founder of the Santa Group. To meet national and international demand, Santa imports its fresh fish from different parts of the world, with Iceland being one of its most important suppliers. Fish imports from Iceland grew year on year until Santa’s import share represented more than half of goods turnover between Iceland and Belarus. To mark this excellent business relationship and the boost to Iceland’s fishery industry, Alexander Moshensky was appointed Honorary Consul to Iceland.
Heyko can state proudly that because of its close collaboration with the Santa Group which is active in 24 countries, it is able to supply a quality brand with an international reputation.
